Sassy.
Kofyn Klock the Rocks at Wyecaple
Ilona, has many interests, she has achieved
some wonderful results in athletics for her school this year, is a
member of Hereford Athletics Club, enjoys junior handling with the dogs,
but her biggest passion is riding, she is a member of South Hereford and
Ross Harriers Hunt Branch of the PC, a member of their Tetrathlon team.
She is also a member of Hereford and District Riding Club and is on the
junior teams, she will be competing in the riding club national show
jumping finals, team event in Lincolnshire Sept 2003.
Ilona has had a wonderful 2003, she was
lucky enough to be offered the use of Twiglet, owned by Mrs Sam Baynham
and has had a super season on her, placing at one day events, two phase,
X country and hunter trials, she has won many show jumping classes, a
working hunter championship and overall gymkhana winner, she has also
enjoyed hunting on Twiglet, as well as PC rallies, camp and Tetrathlon
events. We have seen Ilona progress this year with the assistance of
professional trainer Marie Sleet, international eventer, fiancée and
trainer of Matt Ryan, (Australian, Olympic, Multiple, Gold medal
winner.) we can not thank Marie enough for all her help and wish her and
Matt all the very best for their forthcoming wedding in December.
Sadly, Twiglet will be outgrown by the end
of the hunting season so the search is now on for the 2004 prospect.
We have a new addition to the Wyecaple
equine family, a Palomino Part bred Arab, "Wryegate Ghost Story" Casper
to his friends, he will be shown in hand by mum until he is old enough
to make a superb ridden prospect for Ilona. First show Monmouth 2003 he
took the best Yearling award from the Palomino classes, but the real
icing on the cake was the fact that he took it all in his stride and was
a perfect gent.
Another exciting event took place at
Wyecaple, the unexpected arrival of Milagro ("Agro") a chestnut colt
foal, a Grandson of "Troy" the Derby winner no less! produced by Mum's
hack (ex Polo Pony) Bumble who was on long term loan to Mum, the birth
of her foal was quite a shock, the stud had sent her back to her owners
in 2002 and said she was empty! Bumble has now gone back to her owners
Nicky and Hugo, until Agro is weaned, he will hopefully become a Polo
star of the future, just like his mum. Hugo is a professional player and
previously had many attempts to have a foal from Bumble, hence the name
"Milagro" which means Miracle. We wish Hugo and Nicky and Agro all the
very best for the future and look forward to Bumble's return early 2004.
"Fancy That" AKA "Sandi"
Ilona has been enjoying a brilliant 2004 with two new ponies that
were purchased at the tail end of 03, above is "Fancy That", a glamorous
10 yr old Dun mare that seems to be capable of turning her hoof to
anything. She has won a Dengie Qualifier, and got to the area final, has
competed in the local riding club Junior teams and has the makings of a
brilliant event pony. Her first ever 2 phase hunter trial (never having
previously competed Cross Country) resulted in a 4th place, her second
attempt at the Clifton-on-Teme, pony club hunter trials resulted in a
spectacular 1st place with 85 ponies competing in the class.
She is consistently winning and placing in Show Jumping and is about
to embark on her BSJA career, Ilona is also about to get acredited for
British Eventing with Sandi.
The second pony she has competed 2004 is a Dutch bred chestnut BSJA mare,
called "Lucky Foxy Lady" AKA "Foxy" Foxy also qualified for Dengie area
finals and went clear to the Jump Off, she has also qualified for the
riding club team event National Finals open junior S.J. and Ilona is
about to start jumping BSJA Foxhunter, starting at Cheltenham in July.
Ilona and Sandi will be taking part in the McAlpine 2004 Inter Schools and Pony Club Championships at Hickstead at the end of July with two other team members from Monmouth School.
